“[F]or it is good to be children sometimes and never better than at Christmas, when its mighty Founder was a child himself.”
I saved my favorite Christmas novel for the last day of books.
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is perhaps one of the most recognizable Christmas stories in the Western World.
Although I have been watching various film renditions of this story since I was a child, it was not until I read the book that I fell in love with the story. I knew what was coming every time I turned the page and often found myself finishing quotes before I got to the end of the page.
Dickens is a superb writer; this book is proof of that. The story is both gripping and inspirational. This is a classic that should be read by everyone, every Christmas. If you have not read A Christmas Carol yet, I urge you to make it a priority this Christmas. You will not regret it.

PS: I know there are numerous different film adaptations of this story, but I would make the argument that the 1951 version with Alastair Sim in the best one on the market.
