A Cedar Cove Christmas by Debbie Macomber is a modern re-telling of the nativity story . . . sort of.
On Christmas Eve, a pregnant Mary Jo Wyse arrives in Cedar Cove looking for the father of her child (David Rhodes). She was under the impression that he would be in town, but he was nowhere to be found. She found herself alone in a strange town and unable to find a hotel room.
The story that unfolds in the small town shows the beauty of a community who finds joy in giving during the Christmas season (plus, there are numerous nods to the Nativity story).
I must warn you reader, this is book #8.5 in the Cedar Cove series. I have not read any of the other books so I am not sure if this book spoils any of the plots from previous books. I can, however, recommend this as a light, sappy Christmas read that will warm your heart.
