Imagine your mother throws you out of a moving car to save you from, well, the cab that you’re riding in, because the cab driver wants to hurt you both.
Imagine not having indoor plumbing.
Imagine having a white father and a black mother, and that the simple act of love that brought you into this world, is also a crime.
Imagine all of that – and then read Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, and realize that there no imaging any of those things, for they are his reality, and the building blocks from which he came.
I’ve always been a fan of Trevor Noah, but his autobiography makes me see him in a whole new light. His stories are inspiring, and heartbreaking, and interesting. His outlook on life is refreshing – and it makes you look inward. His words jump out at you, and make you want to be a better version of yourself, and a better person to those whom you love.
I couldn’t recommend this enough. And, if you’re into audiobooks, I would absolutely download this, as Trevor narrates it himself – priceless!
Happy Reading!
