Hello Beautiful People,
Just this week we recieved a package here at The Write Teacher(s) – a copy of Expanzaramadingdong, by Jason Steinberg.
Other critics had compared the prose + art of this new literary treasure to that of Shel Silverstein, and so I was immediately curious.
Could it be?
Another Shel?
A different Shel?
A colorful and imaginative poet and artist, fresh for the new eyes and ears and heart of today’s youth?
Why….yes. Yes it could.
Expanzaramadingdong, written by Jason Steinberg and illustrated by Keith Klein, is lovely. Silly. Quirky. Thoughtful.
It’s poems will engage and entrace young readers — and it’s illustrations will ignite the tiniest spark of the imaginative mind. It’s a perfect addition to your child’s library, and an asset to any theatre or english teacher’s classroom – both at the elementary and high school levels.
(Just recently I had my Theatre I students perform a poem of Shel Silverstein’s. They had to devise a character based on the text of the poem. The things that they came up with were BRILLIANT — and this collection of poems could have easily been used as well.)
Happy Reading!
