I finally saw Frozen – The Broadway Musical.
And yes, I know I’m a little late to the party, but better late than never, right?
So, this past Sunday, I went with my aunt, sister in law, and niece to see one of my favorite Disney movies come to life – and it was pure magic.
Now, I am a lifelong Disney nerd, and have no doubt that I would love the show regardless – but seeing it through my nieces eyes was actual magic.
She’s four years old, and she did not move the entire time. She sat, transfixed, giving some commentary here and there about what was going to happen next, and exclaiming with delight when Elsa and Anna came onto the stage.
It was wonderful.
Each and every time I attend a musical of this magnitude, I am reminded of the importance of ensemble, and the magic that they bring to these stories – Frozen is no exception. From party goers, to the trolls, to the snowstorm – they seamlessly draw us into the world of Arendelle.
Caissie Levy is a goddess – and I don’t really know what else to say about that. She shines as Elsa. I was afraid my niece was going to stop breathing when she came onstage. She was, and is, wonderful.
Aisha Jackson was delightful as Anna – my niece kept asking when she’d come back onstage. (She’s quite the Anna fan!)
Jelani Alladin and Greg Hildreth bring the perfect amount of love and joy and humor to Kristoff and Olaf, and audiences will love to hate John Riddle as Hans – the perfect unsuspecting villain.
I loved the music in the movie, and the new additions to the musical are equally as enthralling, but that’s not a surprise coming from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez – anything they touch seems to turn to gold. One of my favorite parts about the show were the quick quips and subtle jokes that gave the adults a good chuckle, and then went right over the heads of all the children – so congrats Jennifer Lee, on a remarkable book.
I would be remiss if I did not pay some praise to the design team, for their work truly aides in making that Disney magic come alive.
There is so much to love about Frozen, but, I’m going to stop writing about it, and urge you to venture out to the Saint James Theatre and see it for yourself. It’s truly a perfect show for families, one I would not miss.
OH ! How lucky ! I would LOVE to see FROEN on Broadway! The magic of theatre is beyond and blowing!
OH, no I meant FROZEN but was so excited just thinking about it !!!
It’s the best! #LiveLoveLearn
