“I’m slowly learning that my happiest, most special moments happen when the circus is at its peak.” – Emily Ley
Goodness. It’s 11:38pm and I’m writing this review. I know, it sounds crazy. But there were classes to teach, and rehearsal to run, and phone calls to be made, and dinner to be had.
Sound familiar?
But hey, here I am. And I’m writing this review. Amidst the madness that is my circus.
I’ve been a longtime fan of Emily Ley’s Simplified Planner, so when she said she was writing a book, I was eager to get my hands on a copy, and I’m so glad I did.
The official book blurb of Grace Not Perfection is thus: as a busy wife, new mother, business owner, and designer, Emily Ley came to a point when she suddenly realized she couldn’t do it all. She needed to simplify her life, organize her days, and prioritize the priorities. She decided to hold herself to a standard of grace rather than perfection. This mantra led to the creation of her bestselling Simplified Planner®, a favorite among busy women everywhere—from mamas to executives and everywhere in between.
I can’t echo that sentiment enough – this book is for everyone. I’d even venture to say that the men of this world would get something out of this, too.
In a world where social media streams permeate every aspect of our lives – it’s often necessary to take a break. To breathe deeply and stand in the sun without your phone fixed to your palm. When was the last time you were in the middle of a celebration, and didn’t try to document it? When were you experiencing the chaos around you just as it was?
Grace is not a frequent quality found in life nowadays, but grace is found on the pages of Emily Ley’s book.
It’s beautiful simplicity – stripping away the mess that we clutter our hearts and heads with, and getting to what really matters.
It’s a great read, one you should absolutely check out.
