Hello Beautiful People,
Jekyll and Hyde has returned to Broadway, and will be playing at The Marquis Theatre for a thirteen week engagement.
This dark and dangerous love story from Jeykll and Hyde ran for four years Broadway at the Plymouth Theatre, and had multiple world-wide tours. Personally, it is one of my favorite musicals and scores.
Now, Tony and Grammy Award nominee Frank Wildhorn, and Oscar and Grammy Award winner Leslie Bricusse bring you this classic story once more, complete with its classic songs (“This is the Moment,” “A New Life,” “Someone Like You”), which have been reinterpreted to suit the different and contemporary vocal stylings of Constantine Maroulis and Deborah Cox.
What blew me away about this production was Teal Wicks. Her presence, her vocals, her acting chops – from soup to nuts she was a pleasure to watch, and she absolutely drew me into the story, as well as those who were watching the show with me. The duet between her at Deborah Cox,”In His Eyes”, was my favorite number of the show. The combination of vocals, the lighting, the scenic elements – it was breathtaking and beautiful. On another note – Brian G. Gallagher made a delightful Savage, providing those moments of necessary humor and lighthearted reprieve in what is a very dark story.
Tonight begins the limited run of Jekyll and Hyde at the Marquis Theatre. If you missed the original show back in the late 90s, well, now’s your chance to see this show in a production of such magnitude.
As always, get thee to the theatre!
