Who live-in a pineapple under the sea? SpongBob SquarePants, of course.
And GUESS WHAT? You can take a trip down under at The Palace Theatre on Broadway!
Now, before you adults start rolling your eyes – hear me when I say that Spongbob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical is a magical, mystical, colorful masterpiece.
From the dazzling set to the music to the performances to the story – it’s utterly delightful!
When you walk into the theatre, you are transported under the sea into a colorful world of creatures and creativity. The design is flawless thanks to the work of David Zinn, Kevin Adams, Peter Nigrini, Walter Trarbach, Charles G. Lapointe, Joe Dulude II, and Mike Dobson.
The characters of the beloved television series – SpongeBob SquarePants, Sandy Cheeks, Eugene Krabs, Patrick Star, Sheldon Plankton, and Squidworth Q. Tentacles come alive before your very eyes, and the performances given by each of these actors (Ethan Slater, Lilli Cooper, Brian Ray Norris, Danny Skinner, Wesley Taylor, and Gavin Lee) are nothing short of extraordinary. Each and every one of them are triple threats, and they bring humor and life into the familiar cartoons, so much so that you forget that this is all based off of an old television show.
Also, can we talk about Pearl Krabs, played by the magnificent Jai’len Christine Li Josey? She’s absolutely captivating.
Also, can we talk about the ensemble?
It’s long been said that there should be a Tony Award for Best Ensemble – and the ensemble of SpongeBob SquarePants only furthers that point, as Bikini Bottom would not be the same without them.
I could go on about this show – but instead I’ll stop here, and urge your to see it for yourselves. Tickets are available here, and trust me when I say that this is a perfect show for adults and children alike!
