The Story of the Western Wing is on old, Chinese dramatic work that was written by Wang Shifu during the Yuan dynasty (1271 – 1368). The title has also been translated as Romance of the Western Chamber and is known as “China’s most popular love comedy.”
Often been dubbed the Romeo and Juliet of the East, the Romance of the Western Chamber is about two young lovers who must conduct their love affair in secret.
This story was first produced as a musical in China in 2011 and made its United States premiere on September 14, 2017 and is playing a limited engagement at the TADA! Theater through October 1st.
