Hello Beautiful People,
The Gateway’s, (The Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County at Gateway), production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas closed on December 30th, and it was truly fantastic. We are HUGE fans of the movie, and the musical, while different, still does the story justice. You come away feeling happy…joyful…and you definitely count your blessings instead of sheep.
It was a wonderful show. Dave Ruttera, Nathan W. Perry, and Mary Giattino truly crafted a Christmas gem.
To the cast: Matthew LaBanca, Trista Moldovan, Alissa Alter, Steve Brady, Beth Glover, Alison Cordaro, Rebecca Goldfarb, Michael E. Baker, Janelle Neal, Nikki Della Penta, Blake Armistead, Scot Patrick Allan, Kim Dufrenoy, Sean Quinn, Kellu Skidmore, Matthew K. Kiglore, Elish Conlon, Laurie DiFilippo, Alicia Hemann, Graham Keen, Edward Andrew Lawrence, Janelle Neal, Jake Primmerman, Sara Michelle Reardon, Kelly Skidmore, Amy Van Norstrand, Chaz Wolcott…BRAVO. You all were delightful. Your passion & commitment & love were infectious, we all wait with bated breath to see your upcoming performances, for whatever you choose, there is no doubt that they will be wonderful.
But, let this not be a review of the White Christmas production. They were fabulous, even the NYT thinks so, and you can read all about it here.
Instead, lets talk about the beauty that is The Gateway, as is a sixty-two year old theater in the heart of Bellport Village, and it’s still going strong. While it is now called The Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County at The Gateway, let us not forget about the history and magic of this place. It’s a place where legends such as Robert Duvall used to come and perform. It’s a place that became the springboard for performers currently on the stage and the screen.
It’s a theatrical treasure.
And, as you all know, we believe theater transforms lives.
The Gateway is a prime example of this motto.
As we gear up for 2013, we hope you will see the shows there this summer, for if you do, you will fall in love with the space, just as we have.
