Dave Schoonover (Fantastiks, Young Frankenstein) and Abigail Shapiro (How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Liberty the Musical) are set to join the cast of Love Songs for V-Day at 54 Below!
The third volume of the concert features a cast of dynamic performers from the Broadway and NYC theatre communities, singing songs from across the musical theatre spectrum about, well, love. The love we make, the love we take, the love we find, and the love we hold onto – this evening will see and sing us through it all. This year, the song selections feature female musical theatre writers and composers.
A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the V-DAY Foundation, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery.
This year, the concert features music strictly written by women musical theatre composers and songwriters – Sara Bareilles, Carmel Dean, Carole King, Dolly Parton, Lauren Pritchard, Zoe Sarnak, Georgia Stitt, and Katie Thompson, (just to name a few.)
Don’t miss out on a Valentine’s Day tradition that sold out last year at Feinstein’s/54 Below!
Schoonover and Shapiro join a cast that features Maddie Shea Baldwin (Bright Star, Tracee Beazer Barrett (Honeymoon in Vegas, Memphis, The Wedding Singer), Virginia Cavaliere (In the Heights Nat’l Tour), Jessica Lara Finney (To Kill A Mockingbird – Bay Street Theater), Samantha Gershman (It Happened One Christmas), Melissa Rose Hirsch (The Bad Years), Meredith Lesley, AngeloMcDonough, Marissa Miller (Wicked Nat’l Tour), T.J., Newton (West Side Story), Josh Pemberton (25th Annual…Spelling Bee, AIDA – MUNY) , Rob Rokicki, (The Lightening Theif), Peter Romagna (Miss Saigon Tour), Taylor Sorice, Stephanie Turci, JP Qualters (Kinky Boots Nat’l Tour), Michelle Veintimilla (The Visit, FOX’s Gotham, NBC’s Limitless), and Christopher Lee Viljoen.
