Hello Beautiful People,
This lovely question was emailed to us from a Write Reader this week –
[custom_blockquote style=purple]My son has independent reading in his sixth grade class, but absolutely HATES sitting down with a book. I’ve tried every way I could think of to get him to focus and interested – HELP! – Anonymous [/custom_blockquote]
Well, for me, I think the trick to helping reluctant readers, especially reluctant readers interested in reading is always finding a topic that he or she is interested in, and go from there!
My picks for sixth grade boys:
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series, by Rick Riordan
The Diary of Wimpy Kid Series, by Jeff Kinney
Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli
