Hello Beautiful People,
I’m so pleased to announce our first GIVEAWAY in the Beach Book Bonanza Giveaway Series! One lucky reader will recieve an autographed copy of Caroline Leavitt’s outstanding new novel, Is This Tomorrow.
What does it mean to be an outsider in a community? How do we keep the ones we love safe? in 1950s suburbia, everything is meant to be perfect, even as paranoia about Communism and nuclear bombs winds its way through the supposed paradise. But when divorced, sensual-without-meaning-to-be, Jewish single mother Ava rents a house with her 12-year-old son, Lewis, she struggles to fit in and find her place in the neighborhood. Lewis finds solace with the only other two fatherless kids on the block, his best friends Jimmy and Rose, but when Jimmy vanishes one day, Ava comes under suspicion, and Rose and Lewis are later forced to confront truths they’ve long suppressed. A novel about people trying desperately to uncover secrets about the past–and about themselves.
So, how do you win yourself a copy you ask?
Simple.
Leave a comment in the section below about a time when you felt like an outsider in a community, and the positive ways that we can overcome that feeling of lonliness.
A winner will be selected at random!
And don’t worry, there’s plenty more giveaways coming up!
Live, Love, Learn,
A few years ago, I started working at a new job after having worked somewhere else for over 15 years. It was hard to adjust and fit into my new surroundings. Even now, 4 years later, I still feel a bit out of sorts. I guess one way to overcome loneliness is to reach out to others and try to come out of your shell. It can be difficult to do, and it takes time to make new friends, but it can be done.
I’ve been working at my job for almost 12 years. I’m the youngest person there and, still to this day, it’s difficult for me to fit in. I’ve come to realize the people I work with are not going to change, so the best I can do it not let it affect me, stay positive and focus on my relationships outside of work.
I’m thrilled to announce that Caroline was gracious enough to provide us with TWO copies of Is This Tomorrow, so Bonnie & Suzy, please email The Write Teacher(s) interns your mailing address at : info@thewriteteachers.com! Happy Reading!
