Hi bookworms!
If you’ve been following along with Close Reads Cafe, the official book club of The Write Teacher(s), you’d know that our book pick for March was SOMEONE ELSE’S LOVE STORY, by Joshilyn Jackson. Now that March is coming to a close, we’d love to discuss the book with you!
Here are our discussion questions; feel free to leave all your answers and comments on this post or in the discussion thread in our Goodreads group.
• What did you expect from this book when you first read the title? What did you expect when you first read the opening line? (“I fell in love with William Ashe at gunpoint, in a Circle K.”)
• What did you think of the references to religion scattered throughout the book? Did they bring a deeper meaning to the story?
• How do Shandi and William change throughout the book? What resonates with you the most?
• How are the characters in the novel stuck in the past? Are they able to find closure?
• There are many love stories throughout Someone Else’s Love Story, some more unexpected than others. What couple do you think is the main love story? William and Bridget? Shandi and Walcott? Even Shandi and Natty?
• What is your definition of unconditional love?
• How do you think the title works with the different relationships in Someone Else’s Love Story?
Can’t wait to hear all of your thoughts – leave them in the comments section below!
And be on the lookout for our announcement of April’s book pick! Hope you’ll read along with us.
