Hello Beautiful People,
There was an entirely different post that was scheduled for today.
But, given the recent events in Charleston, South Carolina, I thought these words might be better. Maybe they’ll do some good. Cause I’m tired and saddened and frustrated with all of the hatred.
Hatred.
Hatred.
Hatred.
Hatred killed nine people Wednesday night when a murderer opened fire at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, during a prayer meeting. Hatred is what gave that gun power – nothing else.
And so I have to wonder…when will we stop hating one another?
WHEN WILL WE STOP HATING ONE ANOTHER?
I want to shout it from the rooftops.
I want to ask that question of each and everyone I know…and yet, perhaps the pen will always be mightier than the sword.
And so I’ll ask it again, in bold faced, all caps print – WHEN WILL WE STOP HATING ONE ANOTHER?
But really, what’s it going to take?
Disguising hatred as mental illness does absolutely nothing to break the cycle of violence.
No matter what your situation is – violence is never the answer.
Did ya hear me, world?
No matter what your situation is – violence is never the answer.

Just yesterday I saw a student of mine, a proud, recent graduate of The University of Charleston. She told me of her post college plans…to teach in the inner city schools of Charleston.
“It’s so bad there Min, it’s so differen’t than New York. But, I want to try and make a difference.”
…and those are the words I’ll cling to. The promise of hope. Of love. Of wanting to change this world for the better.
The “image” of this post is the address of the church where this horrific murder occured. Write to these people. Write to this community. Show your love. Show your support. The world has enough hatred, but it can always, always use more love.
