Celebrated theatre and opera director Anne Bogart, an artistic director of SITI Company and professor at Columbia University, discusses the future of theatre at Drama Bookshop on May 22nd. Bogart, an award-winning theatre maker and co-founder of SITI Company will be reading from selections of her new book:What’s the Story: Essays about art, theatre, and storytelling. The reading will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.
Anne Bogart’s work includes over 100 productions; the development of Viewpoints training technique; and coupled with Suzuki, the use of these training methods throughout contemporary theatre with SITI Company. As a professor at Columbia University, she currently heads the Graduate Directing Program, with alumni including Tony Award-winning Diane Paulus and Obie-Award winning Rachel Chavkin. Her current book,What’s the Story? explores the story-telling impulse, how we can make meaning and tell stories through theatre, whilst asking how theatre practitioners can participate in an on-going dialogue about the future.
