FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW, Broadway’s Supper Club, presents Billy Anderson in #imwithripsey on March 4th, 2017 @ 11:30pm.
Once upon an election night, Billy Anderson, an ardent Hillary supporter, had a few too many, and his intoxicated alter ego Ripsey crashed the party! This lead to an infamous public meltdown on social media, recapped in #imwithripsey, a musical comedy journey through one New Yorker’s hilarious and heartbreaking election night. Anderson reunites with accompanist Danny Katz, the original Jewish Japanese pop musician (recently back from a seven year stint in the Far East!). The dynamic duo pick up right where they left off six years ago for this very special reunion show featuring fresh arrangements of pop classics, plus songs you’ve never heard before that you will THINK were written by them. It’s a cabaret that thinks it’s a rock concert that thinks it’s a Broadway musical! With guest stars Andrew Boeckmann, Justin Cook, and featuring a special appearance by John C. Hume, this show is sure to tickle your funny bone with some fun with a capital F-U!
Billy Anderson has created, conceived, written, directed and performed ten prior solo cabaret shows, with performances in various venues from January 2003 to August 2014. Danny Katz has musical directed eight of Anderson’s solo shows, and is himself a singer/songwriter with seven studio albums, his most recent entitled “Orbiting.” Katz injects his own Jewish/Japanese pop spin on his songs, and recently was touring in Tokyo. John C. Hume headlined his own show at 54 Below in April 2015, where Andrew Boeckmann also performed. Justin Cook will make his New York stage debut.
