On June 10, 2014, producer and director, Caleb Ryan is reviving the timeless music of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in the inaugural performance of “A Broadway Smile,” all to benefit Operation Smile. New World Stages, home of Tony winning Avenue Q and the Gazillion Bubble Show will play host to this highly anticipated performance bringing together some of Broadway’s brightest.
The gala concert will feature the vocal talent of some of Broadway’s best including Hannah Elless (Godspell; Mamma Mia; The Other Josh Cohen), Laura Dreyfuss (Once; Hair; What’s It All About),Trevor McQueen (Annie Get Your Gun) and Telly Leung (Glee; Rent; Godspell; Flower Drum Song; Wicked). The show will be headlined by PENTATONIX singer Kirstie Maldonaldo (Winner of NBC’s the Sing Off) with Jeremy Lewis from the acoUstiKats (Season 4 NBC’s The Sing Off). Joining them on stage will be Morgan Reynolds (The Full Monty; Life Could be a Dream, CA cast) and show director and producer Caleb Ryan in a cameo performance.
Bryan Carter and his band will be providing the music to accompany the sweet sounds of the all-star cast. Carter most recently toured with Grammy Award winners Kurt Elling and shared the stage with Wynton Marsalis.
This event will benefit the children of Operation Smile. “A Broadway Smile” will donate the net proceeds from the event to Operation Smile on behalf of its attendees and sponsors. The idea was developed by producer and director Caleb Ryan himself while working to produce a review of Broadway tunes with some of his famous friends. “I quickly realized I could use this star power to make an impact and immediately thought that operation smile would be the perfect fit,” said Ryan.
The gala performance will be followed by an exclusive after party with a meet and greet of celebrities that will be covered by Getty Images.
