FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW, Broadway’s Supper Club, presents a one night only production of Doonesbury: A New Musical on Sunday, July 2, at 7 PM. An exciting crop of today’s up and coming musical theater talent is on hand to show us how the biting satire of Garry Trudeau’s comic strip is more relevant than ever in 2017!
The iconic characters come to life onstage in the musical comedy Doonesbury, by Pulitzer-winning comic strip creator Garry Trudeau and Tony-nominated composer Elizabeth Swados. This production follows Mike Doonesbury and his pals as they get ready to graduate from their cozy Walden College enclave and face the real world. Come see why Frank Rich of the New York Times said, “The qualities that have made Garry Trudeau’s comic strip ‘Doonesbury’ a national treasure are all present in the musical-comedy version.”
Produced and directed by Mark Falconer, with musical direction by Will Buck (Oh, Brother! at Feinstein’s/54 Below), Doonesbury features Stephanie Jae Park (War Paint), Rachel Rhodes-Devey (Carousel at Lincoln Center, Most Happy Fella at Encores), Colleen Hawks (The Boy From Oz, Shrek the Musical), Ron Spivak (Mademoiselle Colombe, Henry Sweet Henry), Kenny Metzger (Beautiful), John Jarrad Klapko (Oh, Brother!), Lendsey Kersey (The Mistress Cycle), Philip Jackson Smith (The Rage: Carrie 2, An Unauthorized Musical Parody in Concert), Eric Williams (Full House! The Musical!), and M. Rowan Meyer (Blood Brothers).
54 Sings Doonesbury plays Feinstein’s/54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on Sunday, July 2. There is a $30-$40 cover charge and $25 food and beverage minimum.
