FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW, Broadway’s Supper Club, presents Gunhild Carling in “Gunhild & Friends” on November, Wednesday the 22nd. Swedish musical sensation Gunhild Carling is an internationally acclaimed superstar whose one-woman show is a can’t-miss event! Whether she’s singing favorite jazz standards, playing one of many instruments (trumpet, trombone, harmonica, flute, recorder, or jazz bagpipe!) or juggling and tap dancing, Gunhild’s sublime showmanship shines through. Carling is a jazz artist of the old breed, combining extraordinary skills on trumpet and trombone with vaudeville stunts. In her playing, she shows heavy influences from Bix and Louie Armstrong as well as Billie Holiday. As if that weren’t enough, Gunhild also tap dances and sings during her shows.
For this special event, Gunhild will perform with great American friends, including Dave Post on bass (Swingadelic) and Daniel Glass on drums (Royal Crown Revue), among others. This is the first time Gunhild & Friends will perform in NYC. This band has already played this last May on the West Coast, including world famous venues as The Queen Mary or The Cicada Club.
This amazing singer and award-winning multi-instrumentalist has been featured on Scott Bradlee’s Post Modern Jukebox putting a twenties twist on the eighties tunes “Material Girl” and “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Gunhild is notorious for playing three trumpets at once and a recent video of her playing bagpipes went viral with over 15 million views. Gunhild is a thrilling artist on stage.
