FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW will be hosting a Reunion Concert of the 1971 Broadway musical, INNER CITY, on Thursday, August 17th.
The original Broadway production, directed by Tom O’Horgan, featured music by Helen Miller and lyrics by Eve Merriam. The show was based on Merriam’s book “The Inner City Mother Goose,” a collection of updated nursery rhymes reflecting life of the disenfranchised inhabitants of America’s urban inner cities circa 1970. The production ran at Broadway’s Barrymore Theater from December 1971 to March 1972. Featured cast member, Linda Hopkins, was awarded a 1972 Tony Award for her performance.
Joining original Broadway cast members, Larry Marshall and Allan Nicholls, will be Tony Award winner Melba Moore, and Broadway’s Annie Golden, Camille Saviola, and NaTasha Yvette Williams. Also featured in the cast will be West End performer Ray Shell, and R&B songstress Cheryl Pepsii Riley.
Directed by Michael Boyd. Musical Direction by Rob Baumgartner, Jr.
Inner City The Musical Reunion concert will take place on August 17th at Feinstien’s/54 Below, at both 7pm and 9:30pm. Tickets are $30-$50 with a $25 food and drink minimum. Additional information is available at 54Below.com.
