Hello Beautiful People,
For those of you who are not familiar with Joe’s Pub, well, you best rectify that situation right now. Located at 425 Lafayette Street in Downtown Manhattan, Joe’s Pub is truly an arts hub that provides a platform for outstanding talent to showcase their skills.
Next up?
Back by popular demand, JUNK: A Rock Opera at Joe’s Pub will star Katrina Rose Dideriksen (Pregnancy Pact, Bloodsong of Love), Ashkon Davaran (Beardo), Daniel Luis Domenech (Rock of Ages, Wonderland), Anastacia McCleskey (Hair, Tarzan), Freddie Kimmel (Superfly, Billy Elliot), Paul Louis Lessard, Lauren Marcus (Pregancy Pact), Natalie Wachen (Rent off Broadway), Katie Lee Hill, Sarah Cetrulo (The Black Suits), Will Roland (The Black Suits), and Justin Figueroa; With Mike Rosengarten (guitar), Christopher Bastian (bass), Jeff Roberts (drums) and Kelly Thomas (keys).
JUNK is directed by Shakina Nayfack, with Jeremy Robin Lyons as the musical director, and co-produced by Shakina Nayfack and Megan Savage in association with From Sweden Productions.
JUNK takes place in a near-future urban wasteland run by Junk Incorporated. Anna, a Junk employee, dreams of starting a revolution with her all-girl rock band, the MetroJets. Her ambitions are thwarted when she finds herself torn between her love for the office janitor, who wants to help her escape the drudges of corporate life, and the lecherous advances of her boss, the Junk CEO and owner of the last nightclub in town. Visceral and irreverent, JUNK sets the stage for a populist glam renaissance that will rock the future of musical theater.
Friends, this is not something to be missed, according to Steven Stanley of the LA Stage Scene, “JUNK is, according to director Shakina Nayfack, ‘part social satire, part love story, and part existential allegory.’ It’s also an exciting and tuneful rock opera, which has ‘cult hit’ written all over it.”
I hope you’ll ring in spring with some Junk at Joe’s – I know I will!
