Black Box Studios proudly presents a benefit concert of the Tony award winning musical PASSING STRANGE, with book by Stew, music and lyrics by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, and created in collaboration with Annie Dorsen. Directed by Matt Okin, with musical direction by Jane Cardona, and Huey Esquire.
PASSING STRANGE will play three performances at Teaneck’s new culture hub, the Black Box Performing Arts Center (200 Walraven Dr. (just off Palisade Ave), Teaneck, NJ 07666): Thursday, February 25th at 8pm; Saturday, February 27th at 8pm; and Sunday, February 28th at 3pm.

PASSING STRANGE is a blues-rock musical that tells the story of a young Black musician growing up in 1970s Los Angeles, who flees to Europe to find himself. It is a ground-breaking, Tony-winning musical that ran on Broadway only briefly in 2008, but with heart and soul like nothing you’ve seen or heard before.
Featuring Haia Bchiri, Emily Briggs, Ishmon Brown, Daisha Davis,Huey Esquire, Margaret Leone, and Antonio Rowland.
With Gio Andollo on drums, Jane Cardona on keyboards, Huey Esquire on guitar, Brody Greif on bass, and Vita Tanga on lead guitar.
The design consultant is Gerard Bourcier, and the stage managers are Haia Bchiri, and Yonatan Gordon. The production assistant is Sam Cancelarich.
