Allison Guinn celebrates the legacy of a phenomenal woman in a night of old time country songs and wildly true stories told to her by her Appalachian grandmother. Guinn’s grandmother, Daisy Dean Erwin, survived an extraordinary life of struggles and sacrifice by using her own special brand of humor and song. Backed by a four-piece string band of talented musicians, Guinn takes you back to the East Tennessee hollers by mixing the traditions of Appalachian storytelling and old time country songs (Carter Family, Hank Williams, Roy Acuff) with cabaret to create an extremely funny, heartwarming and unique event never before seen at Feinstein’s/54 Below to honor a uniquely incredible woman, and the Appalachian spirit.
Guest stars scheduled to appear are Broadway’s Briana Carlson-Goodman (Les Miserables, Hair) Lauren Elder (Sideshow, Hair), the immense musicianship of Peter Calo (http://petercalo.com), and the talented Sam and Matthew Gelfer (The New Students).
