Hello Beautiful People,
Happy Fourth!
And now that I got that out of the way – let me be frank – I’ve never been a fan of fireworks. I’ve never been a fan of balloons popping either. Or dogs barking. Or the sound of gunshots and cars backfiring. I’ve never been a fan of loud, unexpected noises.
I’ve never been a fan of the unexpected…period.
When I went to college, I studied theatre…AND Philosophy, Political Science and Law.
When I went to grad school, I studied Theatre Education, AND English Education.
See, once upon a time I trained my brain to think in practicalities. To focus on what was safe. To place more importance on how I was paying for my bills rather than how I was living out my dreams.
Now, I’m not advocating for haphazard spending and thinking.
I’m not advocating for that at all — ya hear?
I’m not advocating for that at all.
But, sometimes, you need to take a leap.
Sometimes you need to remember those dreams of what kept you up at night in your childhood bedroom – the bits of stars and glitter and happiness that you whispered into your pillow at night.
Sometimes, you need to remember.
And sometimes, you need to act.
You need to light yourself on fire – and set the world ablaze with your thoughts. Your Dreams. Your Hopes. Your Wishes.
Sometimes you need to become that firework and leap into the unexpected.
Perhaps your flame and sparkle and glory will die out. Perhaps your fire will burn longer than you ever thought possible. Perhaps the wind will smother the flames before they even get a chance to burn…
But…
…imagine if you left the fireworks you bought today in a box. How would you ever see their beauty if they were never lit? How would you know of the artwork that could decorate the sky, even for a brief moment, if you never ignited that flame?
Life has been throwing me some…exciting opportunities lately.
Opportunities I’ve dreamt about.
Opportunities I’ve worked for…opportunties I’ve fought for…
And while these opportunities have placed me in the middle of the Land of the Unexpected, I wouldn’t change it for a thing.
Because sometimes you learn that in order to get to the place where you want to go, you must leave a path ablaze in your wake.
