A free introductory children’s creativity and learning session for boys and girls ages 5-14 is scheduled Tuesday, October 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Farmers Market in Queens, NY. The session will be hosted by Innovations in Creative Arts and Martial Arts (iiCAMA).
Educator Adrienne Adison discovered her elementary school students learned more effectively when lesson plans included story-telling and imagination. The children in her class imagined most about becoming Super heroes and Princesses. No surprise there, but when she developed a way to link their desires with schoolwork, learning blossomed and things got easier for everyone.
Armed with her innovative programming, Adison founded Innovations in Creative Arts and Martial Arts. The core course of the iiCAMA is called the Super Hero Project, designed by Adison with general and special education teachers where children fully engage in movement and imagination to learn.
To attend the free session, meet at the Queens Famers Market in the Harvest Room located at 90-40 160th Street, Jamaica, NY 11432. Prizes will be awarded for children in the most original super hero costumes. Classes after October 6 will be held every Tuesday for a fee with Karate from 5:00 pm – 6:00 p.m. and the Super Hero Program from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
