Hello Beautiful People,
On April 26th Deidra and I went to see Joe Iconis & Family at 54 Below, and I urge you to get your tickets to their next show on May 5th. I mean what better way to spend Cinco de Mayo with a group of phenomenal musicians, singers, and actors?
But alas, I digress.
I have not known Joe Iconis for very long. A mere couple of months. What I do know is this: he’s unbelievably humble, unbelievably kind, and quite possibly one of the most talented composers/musicians of our generation.
Brilliance happened at 54 Below.
Brilliance.
When Joe and I sat down to do his Q&A for the Music Magic Series, he mentioned to me that likes for his songs to have multiple layers, that the audience should hear it, enjoy it, and then perhaps get the other message in the music later on.
But again, I digress.
The “family” is Liz Lark Brown, Nick Blaemire, Katrina Rose Dideriksen, Seth Eliser, Molly Hager, Jeremy Jordan, Dennis Michael Keefe, Eric William Morris, Krysta Rodriguez, Robert Rokicki, Mike Rosengarten, Lance Rubin, Erica Swindell, Jared Weiss, and Jason SweetTooth Williams. The movers & shakers are Jennifer Ashley Tepper (producer) and Jessica Kent and Kristin Goehring (production assistants). And of course, the songs that were played are entitled, The Whiskey Song, Lonely Woman, Everybody’s At The Bar (Without Me), The Answer, Son of a Gun, The Protector, Anymore, Muthers R Speshel (Wen Yer Sad), Velociraptor, Head Shot, Honey, If You Like It, Broadway, Here I Come!, Flesh And Bone (The Robot’s Song), Lisa, Find The Bastard, The Goodbye Song.
So, am I going to go through ever single song and gush about the brilliance and the magic and the talent of the performers and Joe?
No.
Because, really, you should see if for yourself. My gushing and admiration would go on FOR DAYS. Why read about it, when you could see it? Or better yet, have the songs forever when you buy the entire album on iTunes?
Know that this was amazing. Know that both Deidra and I were absolutely in awe of the vocal dazzlings of everyone, especially Katrin Rose Dideriksen. Know that the duet between Eric William Morris and Krysta Rodriguez is silumtaneously poignant and beautiful. Know that Jason SweetTooth Williams gave us goosebumps, made us a bit teary, and also made us laugh in The Protector and The Goodbye Song.
Know that, these singers, musicians, actors, and actresses deliver a performance of greatness, with songs that will work their way into your spirit & soul, songs that will make you laugh and also maybe even make you cry, songs that you’ll find yourself humming out of nowhere, days later…songs by the unbelievably talented, Mr. Joe Iconis.
And if the music magic goodness wasn’t enough to entice you all, know that, on your table, you’ll find a Kazoo. And really, who doesn’t love a good Kazoo?
Live, Love, Learn,
