Hello Beautiful People,
A few weeks ago, Deidra & I attended a Pampered Chef Party. My aunt, Patricia Pagliai, is a consultant for the company, so we were invited to one of her parties. It was a night off for many of us teachers, a night of good food, good friends, & good conversation.
At one point, my aunt was talking with one of the partygoers, who was wishing that her mother had been able to attend the party. Her mother is a former fifth grade science teacher in the Bronx – which peaked my aunt’s curiosity, as she’s originally from the Bronx.
My aunt asked, “What’s her name?”
The response, “Mrs. Marr.”
The EXCITEMENT & JOY that subsequently occurred was…adorable. The delight immediate.
My aunt could hardly contain her happiness, “OH MY GOODNESS I LOVED HER! She was my favorite. SHe taught me one of the most valuable lessons in my life. WHen the class was off task, or talking when we weren’t supposed to, or just not paying attention, she would not yell. She would not scream. She would not shout. She’d simply stand, in front of the classroom silently with her arms crossed. Once we realized that she was waiting for us, she’d simply say, You just wasted five minutes of your life. Time is precious. Lets not do that again. I take her passion & dedication that she taught us into my job as a consultant on a daily basis.”
It’s amazing how truly meaningful teachers stay with us throughout our lives. We carry those stories with us forever, even to a neighborhood Pampered Chef party.
