Hello Beautiful People,
MiG Ayesa is an Austrailian rock singer & actor. His music has soul, heart, & that certain…je ne sais quoi. We’re so pleased he was able to take the time to chat with us at The Write Teacher(s). Check out his exclusive Music Magic Series Q&A below:
TWT: Growing up, what kind of music did you listen to?
MA: I listened to a lot of different types of music. I would listen to classical music, pretending to conduct Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, and then the next minute grab a tennis racquet and play air guitar to KISS or QUEEN. But, it was Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel that made me want to become a musician. They were my greatest inspirations (besides the Beatles and Mozart).
TWT: Where does the inspiration for your songs come from?
MA: Inspiration comes from all places; from what I see around me, or what is going on in the world that moves me. But it always comes from the heart. I have to feel strongly about something before I can write about it. I just can’t write about a cupcake or a type of dance step. It has to come from a movement in my soul. That’s why I write so much about love…
TWT: What advice would you give to songwriters who are just starting out in their careers?
MA: Never throw anything away. Don’t over-think or over-complicate what you are writing. Mostly the first idea is the best, and the simpler the song, the more genius it is. Your individuality is your greatest asset and your most powerful tool.
TWT: Just for fun, what sound do you love?
MA: Farts.
TWT: Just for fun what sound do you hate?
MA: Spoiled kids’ complaining about how hard life is.
TWT: Can you give our fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the 2013 We Will Rock You 10th Anniversary WorldTour?
MA: It’s BLADE-RUNNER meets MAD MAX set to the loudest, most kick-ass soundtrack ever written.
Thank you, MiG!
Live, Love, Learn,
Having seen We Will Rock You in Toronto over a dozen times, I would LOVE to see MiG Ayesa and the arena tour come to North America!!!!! I have seen him perform Rock of Ages American Tour and on Broadway — MiG is at the top of my list – a GREAT performer – fabulous singing ability and a real sense of what it takes to entertain…..a man of many facets!
Thank you for reading, Gisele! Perhaps one day MiG will find his way to playing at North American venues!
I just saw MiG as Gallileo in the WWRY Arena Tour, and no one does a better Galileo than MiG. I hope they bring him to broadway in this show!
