BURNING by Ginger Lazarus, directed by Eric Parness
Performances begin Wednesday, February 3rd at 2PM and will open on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 7PM
In Burning, Cyrano has become Cy, a woman kicked out of the Army for being gay, who, like Cyrano, suffers from insecurity that prevents her from pursuing love. She now takes on the world with her words, blogging from her country store in a remote Western town near the base where she last served. The play is not only a fresh take on the Cyrano story, it tackles critical contemporary issues of gender inequality, discrimination based on sexual orientation, and military abuse. In love and war, words unspoken are the words that burn.
This year the season, dubbed “The Language of Love,” will include the Edmond Rostand classic Cyrano de Bergerac, adapted by Gabriel Barre, Rick Sordelet and Alexander Sovronsky, directed by Gabriel Barre, in rep with the World Premiere of the Cyrano-inspired play Burning by Ginger Lazarus, directed by Eric Parness. The season begins on February 3 and will run through February 28, 2016 at the Theatre at St. Clement’s (423 West 46th Street). Tickets are $18 and can be purchased at ResonanceEnsemble.org.
