Cherry Lane Theatre and the producers of the World Premiere of OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES — a new comedy by Israel Horovitz (My Old Lady)– announce an extension with a new block of tickets on sale. Originally set to close July 17, OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES will now play through July 31, 2016. The show will celebrate its opening June 19 at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Greenwich Village.
“Since we started performances on June 7, audiences have cheered our award–winning cast of uproariously funny women. Due to strong tickets sales and an overwhelmingly positive response from theatergoers, we are extending Out of the Mouths of Babes through the end of July.,” said Out of the Mouths of Babes Producer, Julie Crosby.
OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES stars Oscar winner and 5-time Tony nominee Estelle Parsons, two-time Tony winner Judith Ivey, along with Angelina Fiordellisi (Zorba on Broadway opposite Anthony Quinn) and Francesca Choy-Kee (Disgraced). The play is directed by Barnet Kellman.
OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES depicts what happens when four women arrive in Paris for the funeral of a 100-year-old man who loved each of them – at times variously, at times simultaneously. For 24 hours, they share his apartment, delicious secrets and a dead cat.

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES marks a reunion with the playwright and Ms. Parsons (who starred in MY OLD LADY on stage prior to the play’s considerable success on film starring Dame Maggie Smith and Kevin Kline), as well as a reunion with the playwright and Ms. Ivey, who starred opposite Jason Robards on Broadway in Mr. Horovitz’s PARK YOUR CAR IN HARVARD YARD.
A prolific playwright and filmmaker, Mr. Horovitz’s 70-plus works for the stage include LINE (now in its 45th year in NYC), THE INDIAN WANTS THE BRONX, THE PRIMARY ENGLISH CLASS, THE WIDOW’S BLIND DATE and NORTH SHORE FISH. His films include MY OLD LADY, which he wrote and directed, AUTHOR! AUTHOR!, THE STRAWBERRY STATEMENT and SUNSHINE. He holds the distinction of being the most-produced American playwright in French theater history.
Estelle Parsons won the Oscar for BONNIE AND CLYDE, and was Oscar-nominated for RACHEL, RACHEL. Her five Tony nominations are for THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN, MORNING’S AT SEVEN, MISS MARGARIDA’S WAY, ANDD MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE and THE SEVEN DESCENTS OF MYRTLE. She appeared on TV in ROSEANNE, ALL IN THE FAMILY and ARCHIE’S PLACE, as well as having been on THE TODAY SHOW for several years.
Judith Ivey’s Broadway roles include THE AUDIENCE, THE HEIRESS (Tony nomination), PARK YOUR CAR IN HARVARD YARD (Tony nomination), HURLYBURLY (Tony Award) and STEAMING (Tony Award). TV credits include NURSE JACKIE and DESIGNING WOMEN.
Angelina Fiordellisi is an actress and is now celebrating her 20th year as Producing Artistic Director of Cherry Lane Theatre. She starred on Broadway in ZORBA and appeared in the musical’s national tour, as well as the national tour of ANNIE. She appeared in the long-running Off-Broadway musical (and recent revival) of NUNSENSE at Cherry Lane Theatre, and recently appeared in CATCH THE BUTCHER and Joe Pintauro’s SNOW ORCHID.
In addition to her performance on Broadway in DISGRACED, Francesca Choy-Kee has appeared at Long Wharf Theatre in AGNES UNDER THE BIG TOP and BOSSA NOVA at Yale Rep.
Barnet Kellman’s work on Broadway includes BREAKFAST WITH LES AND BESS, KEY EXCHANGE, DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA and THE LOMAN FAMILY PICNIC.
