Hello Readers,
I have always loved the theatre. Each production is magical in its own way. Having been in the audience, on stage, and behind the scenes, I have a unique appreciation for each aspect of the theatre and jump at any chance I get to attend or be a part of a production.
When I picked up Razzle Dazzle by Michael Reidel (one of our October picks), I was expecting a book full of interesting facts about the shows that have graced Broadway. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the book.
Michael Reidel explored both the economic and political state of New York City during the 20th century. While reading about the creation of some of the most famous shows ever produced, I learned so much about the history of Times Square and the people/families who shaped it into what it is today.
If you love the theatre and you love New York City, this book is absolutely for you. I always loved Broadway, but I never realized how vital it was to the success of mid-town Manhattan.
