Online theater streaming service BroadwayHD will live stream “She Loves Me,” marking the first time a Broadway show has been broadcast live. Roundabout Theatre Company’s hit revival of “She Loves Me,” starring Laura Benanti, Zachary Levi and Jane Krakowski, will be available to watch live on BroadwayHD.com on Thursday, June 30 at 8 p.m. EDT.
This is a natural next step in furthering BroadwayHD’s mission to offer viewers an unprecedented Broadway experience anytime, anywhere. Most recently, BroadwayHD sponsored the Behind the Scenes Show for the 70th Annual Tony Awards. Past live streams also included Off-Broadway’s productions of the New Group’s “Buried Child,” and Signature Theatre’s “Old Hats.”
“We are honored to expand the reach of live theater beyond Broadway to audiences everywhere,” said Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley, co-founders of BroadwayHD. “This has always been a dream of ours and we are happy to achieve it in less than a year since our launch. Thank you to Roundabout Theatre Company for entrusting us to bring this historic live theater event to BroadwayHD.”
“We are proud to be making Broadway history with ‘She Loves Me,’ the show that launched Roundabout’s Musical Theatre Program in 1993. As a nonprofit institution, this is an incredible opportunity for us to share Scott Ellis’s new Broadway production beyond our subscribers, donors and other ticket buyers for our limited run at Studio 54,” said Todd Haimes, Roundabout Theatre Company’s Artistic Director. “This groundbreaking partnership with BroadwayHD allows us to bring ‘She Loves Me’ to a large audience throughout the United States, and around the globe.”
Visit broadwayhd.com/shelovesme to reserve a live stream pass to “She Loves Me” on June 30 at 8 p.m. EDT for $9.99. “She Loves Me” is free with all annual subscriptions to BroadwayHD’s on-demand library. BroadwayHD annual subscribers in the United States can watch the “She Loves Me” live stream on BroadwayHD’s Roku and Apple TV apps.
“She Loves Me” runs through July 10 at Studio 54 as part of Roundabout Theatre Company’s 50th Anniversary Season, and stars Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti and Zachary Levi, alongside Tony Award-nominee Gavin Creel, Byron Jennings, Tom McGowan and Tony Award-winner Jane Krakowski. It’s directed by Scott Ellis, choreographed by Warren Carlyle with musical direction by Paul Gemignani. This classic musical comedy features a book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and music by Jerry Bock.
Winner of the 2016 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, “She Loves Me” was the most nominated show of the 2015-2016 season, including eight Tony Award nominations, nine Drama Desk nominations, eight Outer Critic Circle nominations, and three Drama League nominations.
“She Loves Me” is a heartwarming musical comedy classic about finding love the good old-fashioned way. It follows Georg (Levi) and Amalia (Benanti), two parfumerie clerks who aren’t quite the best of friends. Constantly bumping heads while on the job, the sparring coworkers can’t seem to find common ground. But little do they know, the anonymous romantic pen pals they have both been falling for happen to be each other! Will love continue to blossom once their identities are finally revealed?
Major support for “She Loves Me” is provided by The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation. “She Loves Me” benefits from Roundabout’s Musical Theatre Fund with lead gifts from The Howard Gilman Foundation and Perry and Marty Granoff.
