Hello Beautiful People!
Happy December!!!
In lieu of our Bookshelf Pick list, (the one that comes out on the first of every month), we are launching The 12 Days of Books campaign!
We started this lovely tradition last year, and it was so well received that we thought, why not do it again?
This year, we’re dedicating The 12 Days of Books to the young folk, paying special attention to those beautiful fighting souls that will be spending their Christmases and other holidays in the hospitals.
Every book that you see listed in The 12 Days of Books will be donated to the pediatric wing of Mount Sinai and Stony Brook University Hospitals. And we are accepting donations of ALL books for kids and teenagers with open arms. For example, friend and fan of The Write Teacher(s), Elaine Wolf, just donated two copies of her FANTASTIC book, CAMP.
We just ask that all donations be sent to us by December 20th. Email us for shipping address info!
And now, for our first book…
The story of Holly & Ivy, written by Rumer Godden and illustrated by Barbara Cooney is the first book in our 12 Days of Books campaign. It’s truly a beautiful story, about love, life, the Christmas spirit, and the magic and power of a wish.
Ivy is an orphan, and all she wants, more than anything in the world, is a real home. So she sets out in search for her grandmother, determined to find her and have her happy ending.
Holly is a doll. Yes, a doll. And all Holly wants is for one special child to pick her out from the toy store and bring her to life.
Mr. & Mrs. Jones just wish that they had a child of their own to share their holiday with.
How do these three stories intertwine? Can all three wishes come true in time for Christmas?
Well, go get yourself a copy of The Story of Holly & Ivy and find out!
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! Here’s to the start of a beautiful season.
Live, Love, Learn,
The Write Teacher(s)
