Hello Beautiful People!
A lil recap, about The 12 Days of Books, for those who are late to the parrrrrtay.
Each day, we’ll go through the following…
- TINSEL TITLE TIP. What does this mean? It’s just a suggestion for the perfect gift, stocking stuffer, holiday grab bag item…you get the idea.
- MERRY MEMORY LANE – Sara + I will suggest a childhood favorite, perfect for your little ones.
- GIVE IT BACK – For each day, we’ll highlight one charity that does a world of good. These organizations are the beautiful bits of humanity. They are the glow to your holiday sparkle. And we just love ‘em.
And so, without further ado, welcome to DAY TWO!
Tinsel Title Tip, Day 2 –
Heal This Way, written by Little Monsters, photographed by Tracey B. Wilson. I adore this woman. I adore this message. I could gush and gush and GUSH about what they’ve done in this book for quite some time. But here’s what you need to know. It’s a collection of stories and photographs of those who love the music and the message of Lady Gaga. But it’s so much more than that. It’s about support. About Love. It’s about finding a community of people who adore you, no matter what. It’s about creating a tribe of folks who embrace all people, from all different walks of life. I love everything that this book stands for – Heal This Way, is most certainly a love story. Love of art. Love for Gaga. Love for one another. Love for oneself. A perfect gift. PERFECT.
Merry Memory Lane, Day 2 –
Megan’s Pick – Strega Nonna. I loved. Loved. LOVED. Strega Nonna, by Tomie dePaola. Look, I’m one hundred percent italian. I’ve never addressed my grandparents as Grandma or Grandpa, it’s ALWAYS been Nonno, Nonna, or Nana. So, when there’s a childhood favorite that everyone’s reading, that involves magical powers and basically makes your own grandmother a superhero, you eat that up with a spoon. It’s fantastic. It’s lovely. It’s lively, and it’s sure to get the kiddos reading.
Sara’s Pick – Holes, by Louis Sachar: This was one of the first books I read that included intersecting plot lines and background stories from multiple character. The momentum and suspense from that style of writing is now one of my absolute favorites. Stanley Yelnats is a character that will instill truth in readers, and teach valuable lessons of faith, trust, and victory.
Give Back…
