Hello Beautiful People!
A lil recap, about The 12 Days of Books, for those who are late to the parrrrrtay.
Each day, we’ll go through the following…
- TINSEL TITLE TIP. What does this mean? It’s just a suggestion for the perfect gift, stocking stuffer, holiday grab bag item…you get the idea.
- MERRY MEMORY LANE – Sara + I will suggest a childhood favorite, perfect for your little ones.
- GIVE IT BACK – For each day, we’ll highlight one charity that does a world of good. These organizations are the beautiful bits of humanity. They are the glow to your holiday sparkle. And we just love ‘em.
And so, without further ado, welcome to DAY FOUR!
Tinsel Title Tip, Day 4 –
Syacmore Row, by John Grisham. What is this you ask? Well, IT’S THE SEQUEL TO THE NOVEL, A TIME TO KILL. Excuse the caps ladies and gents, but oh my goodness my little bookworm heart just goes pitter patter over this. Get yourselves a copy. Get your friends a copy. Your spouses. Your loved ones. Grisham knows how to tell a story, and I know that this will make the perfect holiday treat for all you bookish folks.
Merry Memory Lane, Day 4 –
Megan ‘s Pick – The Amelia Bedelia Series, by Herman + Peggy Parish, illustrated by Lynne Avril. Crazy enough, this delightful series is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, and I have no doubt it will celebrate 50 more. Amelia is a literal-minded housekeeper. She takes her directions and instructions on the job LITERALLY. For example, when her bosses as her to the dress the chicken, (as in, marinate the chicken), she puts the chicken in an outfit. Yes, I’m dead serious. It’s a delightful series for youngsters, and a great way to engage them on the complexities of the English language!
Sara’s Pick – Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine: When I was in kindergarten, all I wanted to be when I grew up was a princess and Cinderella was someone I looked up to. Ella takes the well-known lost glass slipper story and gives it a topsy-turvy twist. Ella will teach girls that having a magical life isn’t all about ball gowns and Prince Charmings and is more about having bravery and independence.
Give Back –
Happy Reading, Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!
