Hello Beautiful People!
A lil recap, about The 12 Days of Books, for those who are late to the parrrrrtay.
Each day, we’ll go through the following…
- TINSEL TITLE TIP. What does this mean? It’s just a suggestion for the perfect gift, stocking stuffer, holiday grab bag item…you get the idea.
- MERRY MEMORY LANE – Sara + I will suggest a childhood favorite, perfect for your little ones.
- GIVE IT BACK – For each day, we’ll highlight one charity that does a world of good. These organizations are the beautiful bits of humanity. They are the glow to your holiday sparkle. And we just love ‘em.
And so, without further ado, welcome to DAY SIX
Tinsel Title Tip, Day 6
Long Walk to Freedom: The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela. On December 5, 2013, this great man, leader, scholar, and hero left this earth. Learn about his beautiful ways, his extraordinary life, and quite literally take a page out of his book. If we all led a life by his example, this world would be a better place. Get this book. For your children. For your friends. For your students. For your family. For yourself.
Merry Memory Lane, Day 6
Megan’s Pick – The Boxcar Children Series, by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Here’s the bare bones plot – four orphaned children run away and live in a boxcar, until they are found by their grandfather. Perhaps it’s because I ran away to the tree house we had in our backyard when I was younger. Perhaps it’s because I love my grandfather. Perhaps it’s because I thought the idea of children being self-sufficient without adults was the coolest thing in the world. Whatever the reason, I absolutely adored this entire series. And yes, I read every single book.
Sara’s Pick – Where The Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak: Who wouldn’t want to dance around the woods with a pack of monsters? This book taught me what adventure and imagination could be, but also taught me that you should appreciate everything around you because you’ll miss it when it’s gone.
Give Back, Day 6
