A lil recap, about The 12 Days of Books, for those who are late to the parrrrrtay.
Each day, we’ll go through the following…

- GIVE IT BACK – For each day, we’ll highlight one charity that does a world of good. These organizations are the beautiful bits of humanity. They are the glow to your holiday sparkle. And we just love ‘em.
And so, without further ado, welcome to DAY SEVEN!
Tinsel Title Tip, Day 7
The Engagements, by J. Courtney Sullivan. I adore everything this woman writes. Everything. Her stories are smart, witty, complex – they will resonate with your soul, the characters will become like old friends.
Here’s the official book blurb –
Evelyn has been married to her husband for forty years—forty years since he slipped off her first wedding ring and put his own in its place. Delphine has seen both sides of love—the ecstatic, glorious highs of seduction, and the bitter, spiteful fury that descends when it’s over. James, a paramedic who works the night shift, knows his wife’s family thinks she could have done better; while Kate, partnered with Dan for a decade, has seen every kind of wedding—beach weddings, backyard weddings, castle weddings—and has vowed never, ever, to have one of her own.
As these lives and marriages unfold in surprising ways, we meet Frances Gerety, a young advertising copywriter in 1947. Frances is working on the De Beers campaign and she needs a signature line, so, one night before bed, she scribbles a phrase on a scrap of paper: “A Diamond Is Forever.” And that line changes everything.
Here’s the most important thing to know – J. Courtney Sullivan is a brilliant writer, and her words will reach across generations. This is the perfect gift for your favorite bookworm!
Merry Memory Lane, Day 7
Megan’s Pick – The Princess Diaries, by Meg Cabot. Yes, you read that right. And before Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews ever came along, Mia Thermopolis existed within the pages of this YA book and the nooks and crannies of my imagination. She’s funny. She’s quirky. She’s good and sweet and kind. And she’s got a head full of unruly curly hair, which just made me feel like we were kindred spirits. I promise you that this book’s a perfect fit for your reluctant preteen readers.
Sara’s Pick – The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg. I used to read this title even months after the Christmas season had ended and I still pull out my copy every year. What a beautiful story about faith and trust, and a perfect book to read on Christmas eve for years to come!
Give Back, Day 7
