Star Johnson joins the lineup of featured musical theatre writers of Women of the Wings: A Celebration of Female Musical Theatre Writers Volume II.
Star Johnson is a lyricist and composer hailing from Washington, DC. She has written the book, music and lyrics for How to Quit Your Day Job, Flattops and F Words, good girl/bad part of town and Rooftops: A Song Cycle, mixing traditional musical theatre stylings with soul, r&b and hip-hop. Over the years, her work has been featured at the Kennedy Center, Feinstein’s/54 Below, New York Musical Festival, The Producer’s Club, and Capital Fringe Festival (best musical), and she’s been interviewed for The Washington Post, Playbill and Broadway World. Star recently earned a workshop residency at the Anacostia Arts Center in Southeast, Washington, DC where she will be developing a musical theatre lab with residents of the Anacostia community in summer 2018.
After a sold out debut, this second edition of Women of the Wings: A Celebration of Female Musical Theatre Writers returns to Feinstein’s/54 Below on March 2, 2018 to celebrate female musical theatre writers!
It’s an evening of new work and classic favorites. You’ll hear songs that make you laugh, songs that make you cry, and songs that make you think differently about the world around you… all created by women who have made their mark on musical theatre.
Volume II of this series will feature work from composers and lyricists such as Lynn Ahrens, Barbara Anselmi, Sara Barielles, Kirsten Childs, Jenny Giering, Amanda Green, Keurim Colleen Her, Anna Jacobs, and Star Johnson!
The cast of Women of the Wings Volume II will feature Shaunice Alexander, Hannah Kloepfer, Alicia Krakauer, Sandra Okuboyejo, and Stephanie Turci – with additional cast members soon to be announced.

Women of the Wings: A Celebration of Female Musical Theatre Writers Volume II will play Feinstein’s/54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on Friday, March 2nd, at 7:00 PM.
