Hello Beautiful People,
A couple of weeks ago, before rehearsal for Lucky Disaster Volume 4, I stumbled upon the Global Citizen Pop-Up Shop in NYC. And I met Babs, (aka Barbara Burchfield), of Conscious Co. And I got lost in that little shop, completely in awe of how many people were coming together to create thing, to make this world a bit better than when they found it.
And then the cashier handed me a copy of Conscious Magazine.
Take a look at this, she said.
You’ll probably love it, she said.
Haven’t heard of Conscious Magazine? Well, allow me to introduce you.
Here’s a little bit about them, (in their own words, of course) –
Real stories with real impact. Every story told is meant to inspire, educate, and drive action. Conscious Magazine tells stories about culture, people, and community that make a difference. Through narratives, collaborations, and interviews, the magazine features human interest stories, profiles social entrepreneurs, talks about community development and innovation, and highlights conscious culture. Conscious also hosts conversations to meet and discuss ideas surrounding local and global concerns. Readers subscribe to the Conscious Daily, web stories, biannual magazine, and events. Conscious Magazine is distributed to subscribers in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Switzerland, and more.
Based in NYC, the Conscious Team is a community of professionals, social entrepreneurs, leaders, non-profit founders, writers, creatives, photographers, students, and journalists who help produce the magazine and its web stories. Each member’s contribution and perspective help shape and define the magazine. Learn more about our story.
Here’s the thing – part of the reason why The Write Teacher(s) exists is because we believe in the power of conversation. Of communication. Of the written word, (and the spoken one, too.) We believe that the interwebs promote a myriad of fallacies, especially when it comes to the art and entertainment world, and we wanted to push back against that. We wanted to promote cultural substance. POSITIVITY. Creative Connectivity.
And so, it makes my heart go all pitter-patter when I find magazine’s like Conscious Mag. They are the people who push back, too. They are the type of people who strive to make this world a better place than when they found it. They are the fighters, the movers and shakers, the believers in art. Goodness. And the power of the pen.

And someday soon, when we launch The Write Teach shop, well, you better believe we’ll carry stock!
