There’s only two more days to contribute to the Broadway Sleep Out!
What is that, you may ask? Members of the Broadway community sleep on the streets of NYC, in support of the Covenant House, to support the homeless youth of New York City.
IT IS LIKE A THOUSAND DEGREES OUTSIDE.
And this group of angels are taking to the streets. They’re leaving their AC’s, their fridges, their comfortable beds and couches, and they’re sleeping on the streets. I mean, what’s not to love about that?
Angels, I tell ya.
There’s so many people participating, and it makes my activist heart go pitter-patter.
Here are the names of this year’s participants: Melvin Abston, Lawrence Alexander, Sebastian Arcelus, Amy Birnbaum, Rebecca Black, Stephanie J. Block, Rachel Brosnahan, Brian Harlan Brooks, Jeff Calhoun, Brian Carson, Lilli Cooper, Roosevelt Andre Credit, Max Crumm, Elizabeth A. Davis, Darius de Haas, Janine DeVita, Pamela Dunlap, Christopher Edwards, Claybourne Elder, Alex Finke, Michael Gioia, Montego Glover, Ellen Goldberg, Angela Grovey, Christopher Gurr, Rita Harvey, Marva Hicks, Curtis Holland, Dana Marie Ingraham, Capathia Jenkins, Stephanie Klemons, Lisa La Touche, Amanda Lederer, Jennifer Little, Laura Luc, Tshidi Manye, Kimberly Marable, Audra McDonald, Michael McElroy, BT McNicoll, Ryan Hugh McWilliams, Madison Mitchell, Melissa Mitchell, Bobbi Morse, Robb Nanus, Janelle, Neal, Desi Oakley, Rory O’Malley, Laure Osnes, Patrick Pacheco, John Eric Parker, Christine Pedi, Todd Pettiford, Sam Pinkleton, Jason Ralph, Anne Reeves, Jelani Remy, Donald Robinson, Nic Rouleau, Tom Schumacher, Keala Settle, Hannah Shankman, LaQuet Sharnell Pringle, Abby Smith, Antoine L. Angels. All of these folks are angels.
In a world that’s so saturated with me, me, me – these guys are thinking of we. Thinking of others. Thinking of our future. Thinking of ways to make this world a bit brighter and better.
You can find out more about why they’re sleeping out, and make a contribution to their campaign here.
As a teacher, as an artist, and as a person, I’m in love with this organization and what they do. It’s so easy to take a home, a bed, and food for granted. As teenagers, it’s so easy to take our parents for granted.
And yet – not everyone has a bed. Not everyone has three meals a day without a worry. Not everyone has adults or people in their life who take a vested interest in their well-being, in their safety, in their happiness, in their future.
The Broadway Sleep Out is just one day – but it’s one day that can make a world a difference. One day that supports the work of The Covenant House. One day that can change a life.
Our future lies in the hands of those that are younger than we – so let’s protect those hands. Let’s guide them. Let’s ease the cracks and tired bruises of too many children, and donate to the Broadway Sleep Out.
Live, Love, Learn,
thank you, Megan!

(Shameless plug :). He has exceeded his pledge goal and is so grateful for all the support he has recieved so he can help support the mission of Covenant House
