I’ve written about TWLOHA before, I know.
But I’m highlighting this organization on this Things Megan Loves Monday, anyway.
Why?
Cause they just celebrated TEN YEARS OF EXISTENCE.
Founded by Jamie Tworkowski, To Write Love on Her Arms is an American non-profit organization which aims to present hope for people struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury and thoughts of suicide while also investing directly into treatment and recovery.
They celebrated ten years this weekend.
Ten. Years.
Ten years of giving hope. Ten years of giving love. Ten years of being a corner of the web and world where people seek comfort. Where they can bare their souls & secrets & fears and worries – and find a community of folk who will listen without judgement, and truly want the best for them.
Addiction, depression, self-injury, and suicidal thoughts are more prevalent than one may think. They are enemies that don’t discriminate – they prey on people of all races, genders, cultures, and religions. They linger in the darkest corners of your mind & heart & soul — desperately trying to drown you, drag you down, and smother you like heaviest blanket one can find.
In the thick of it – it can hurt to breathe, let alone get out of bed in the morning. In the thick of it, it can feel like you’ve fallen down a well so deep and dark that it’s impossible to see the light again.
TWOLHA is committed to helping people find the tools to get that light back.
They are that road map that allows you to poke holes in that dark blanket and climb out of that well.
Cause although this life is wrought with darkness, there is so much light to be had. To be shared. To be given.
