Hello Beautiful People,
Two of my most favorite students are graduating on Friday. And by kids, I mean students. Because really, when it comes to good teaching, aren’t they all our kids?
To my Graduates…
I hope that I have taught you to recognize that we all have a story to tell, and that some of us choose to immortalize that within the pages of a book and a script.
I hope that I have taught you to look for the beauty and splendor and wonder that exists in this world, that it is always there, but sometimes it just takes opening your eyes and your heart and your soul to see it.
I hope you learn to appreciate art in all it’s forms, for it’s the connective tissue that binds us all.
I hope that I have taught you to put your best foot forward, that people, unfortunately, judge you the moment they lay their eyes on you…so be the best picture of yourself that you possibly can.
I hope that I have taught you to recognize that the history of your siblings and families do not dictate your future.
I hope that I have taught you that you are the only one who can carve your path in life.
I hope that I have taught you to be kind, to practice kindness and compassion in your daily lives, even when you leave the walls of my classroom.
I hope that I have taught you that your beauty radiates from the inside, that it’s your core that matters most.
I hope that I have taught you to respect yourself, to respect others, and never, ever, EVER stay in a situation that suggests otherwise. You are a gem, treat yourself as such.
I hope I have taught you that there is no shame in reaching for the stars, in setting high expectations, in dreaming, wanting, searching, exploring. I hope you know that you have the abilities to achieve the greatest goals, and you will always have the tools to get yourself there.
I hope that I have taught you that there is no shame in asking for help – for when one is able to recognize that they cannot do it all on their own, well, that is the mark of adulthood. Should you need guidance, should you need support, should you need love – know that there are people there who want nothing more to give that to you.
I hope you know how proud I am of each and every one of you, how much my heart bursts with pride & love & joy, but more importantly, I hope you’re proud of yourself.
Happy Graduation, my kids!
Love Always,
Ms. Min
