Riverdale Country Lower School is seeking a drama teacher/specialist for a theatre residency and maternity leave cover. This candidate must have a background in devising curriculum based theatre for young actors, directing, and technical theatre. The position will begin as a residency starting December 1st. In January, the drama teacher/specialist will take on the role of being a lead teacher for a maternity leave until mid April. This position will be working with three other drama teachers currently employed by Riverdale Country Lower School.
Candidates must have experience in:
Leading elementary aged students through the devising process to create original plays and performances.
Creating “scripts” that connect to and enhance curricular goals.
Directing students through a play production process leading to performance.
Must be competent in a technical theatre skill and have a willingness to learn other skills.
Must have a collaborative spirit and be able to work with many different personalities.
Must have a flexible schedule with some late afternoon and weekend availability.
Must have a love for working with young students and the performing arts.
Candidates will ideally have a masters in educational theatre or will be working towards completing a degree.
