Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, seeks interns to support the upcoming 2015 summer season. The professional Internship Program at Barrington Stage Company provides undergraduate- and graduate-level students interested in pursuing careers in theatre with the opportunity to work with award-winning theatre professionals while spending a summer in the cultural capital of the Berkshires, just a few hours outside of New York and Boston. Internships are available in education, scenery, costumes, properties, lighting, sound, stage management, house management, box office development, marketing, company management, and arts administration. Interns receive training in their chosen field and participate in weekly professional development workshops covering a variety of topics related to careers in professional theater. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to working as part of a team in a top notch busy professional setting. Interns are required to complete the entire summer season from May 24 – August 24, 2015, although start and end dates may vary by position. All internships include housing and a weekly stipend of $90. Additional benefits include free tickets to BSC productions, complimentary gym membership, and invitations to company parties and special events. Students must provide their own transportation to and from the program, as well as during the duration of the internship, most housing is located within a 10-minute drive to the theater. Education Intern: May 24 – August 24, 2015. The education intern will have the opportunity to assist our professional education staff in support of on our renowned education programs and will serve as the assistant director of our KidsAct! summer camp for students ages 7-14. Learn how to develop and implement educational theater curriculum and devise original work with students in a fast-paced, professional environment. Ideal candidate will have experience facilitating theater programming with youth and a strong interest in educational theater. Interns receive a $90 weekly stipend as well as housing and additional benefits such as free tickets to shows, complementary gym membership and invitations to company parties and special events.
