MISSION
Lincoln Center Education enriches the lives of students, educators and lifelong learners by providing opportunities for engagement with the arts on the stage, in the classroom, digitally and in the community. The Program Associate will support the initiatives of the Arts in the Middle (AIM) program, which provides arts education programming and teacher training at underserved New York City middle schools with the goal of making the arts a lasting part of their schools and communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee on-site programming at selected AIM school sites, which may include schools in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and/or Manhattan; this includes overseeing implementation of programming, facilitating monthly in-school meetings and occasional evening family events, making teaching artist assignments, tracking expenses, and handling day-to-day logistics and troubleshooting;
• Support teaching artist work at AIM sites, providing feedback on lesson plans and collecting feedback and reflections;
• Support professional development of AIM teaching artists, in collaboration with the Senior Program Manager;
• Oversee LCE teaching artist research on subjects relevant to Arts in the Middle;
• Oversee content updates for LCE AIM website and AIM content on the LCE website;
• Oversee collection and curation of student work and teaching artist documentation;
• Support daily operations of the AIM program, as needed;
• LCE is focused on collaboration across educational programs – other responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (arts and/or education) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of experience in arts education administration, preferably with middle schools and/or with the New York City Department of Education.
• Teaching experience, preferably in NYC middle schools, a plus.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills in email correspondence, phone communication and in-person situations, with colleagues and external partners.
• Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings.
• A good sense of humor.
